El Paso
Hospitality Industry

Welcome to LodgingGuide.com's lodging listings for the El Paso area.

Modern civilization finally came to El Paso in the mid 1800s with the crowds of people stopping over on their way to California during the Gold Rush. The urban area here is comprised of El Paso, Texas on one side of the Rio Grande, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico on the other. The regional cuisine emerging from this union of the two cultures has come to be known as Tex-Mex, and is at its authentic best here. As El Paso has became more urbanized and controlled by legislation, necessitated by a growing populace, its wild past has become a colorful drawing card for many businesses and industries. Many houses of gambling and prostitution once earned this town the nicknames of Sin City and Six Shooter Capital, but now El Paso is known as Sun City and Star City. Its proximity and cultural affinity with Mexico, just across the river, and its predominantly Hispanic population, also give El Paso enviable advantages over other major Southwestern towns.
